Depending on where you are located, and the severity of your winters will determine the best time to get a new roof. In Texas, our winters are mild. Roofers work year-round in Texas unless temperatures go below 40 degrees. Roofing shingles should not be installed as per manufacturing specs when temperatures go below 40 degrees. Cold weather installs may cause ridge shingles to crack and it can take longer for the shingles to seal. The sealing process for composition shingles roofs does not happen in below-freezing temperatures. It’s best to follow manufacturer’s specs for all roofing installs. Regardless of the weather, when you need a new roof…you need a new roof.
